Ian and Amanda's international careers have meant a life time living in various locations, mostly in the Middle East, North Africa and currently India. A few years ago they decided to buy a forever home in a peaceful and beautiful location. Having a love of France they decided on the rural, authentic and unspoilt region of Deux Sevres.

Ian and Amanda looked at over 30 properties before falling in love with La Batonniere. Many houses they saw had been spoilt with unsympathetic renovations but La Batonniere still had all the charming original features of a classic French manor house. What makes it special?

Since purchasing the property Ian and Amanda have made a number of improvements. They have painted throughout, installed a new ensuite, a new family bathroom and redecorated every bedroom. There is also a new log burner in the day room. As avid chefs, the kitchen at La Batonniere is a cut above anything else you would find elsewhere. From proper chef's knives (sharpened professionally each year) to a whole section of pots and pans, glassware - everything you need to prepare great food in an unparalleled setting.
